Rylee & Rachel's Blacktail Elopement

On April 19th, I had the absolute honor of second shooting my very first elopement with Winter Gray Photography — and wow, what a day to remember. From cozy cabin vibes to mountaintop vows, Rylie and Rachel’s celebration was the sweetest reminder of why I love capturing love stories.
We started the morning at Stoner Creek Cabins in Lakeside, Montana. Growing up in Lakeside, I’d always heard about these cabins, and finally getting to step inside them felt like such a full-circle moment. The cabin was decorated so perfectly — rustic and warm with little touches that made it feel extra special for their day. A chilled bottle of champagne waited on the counter, ready to be popped in celebration.
Winter and I began with detail shots — their stunning cake, delicate bouquet, their rings, shoes, and cufflinks. From there, we moved into getting ready photos. Rachel’s sister helped her into her dress, while Ryleel had his portraits taken, adjusting cufflinks and savoring those quiet moments before the ceremony.
And then came one of my favorite parts of the day: a mini photo session with their three dogs. Not only did the pups completely steal the show, but they also helped sign the marriage license (cutest witnesses ever!).
Once everyone was ready, we made our way up to Blacktail Mountain. The air grew cooler and crisper as we climbed higher, and the anticipation of what was about to unfold hung in the air.
Before the ceremony, Rylie and Rachel had a private moment together — just the two of them. They popped champagne, laughed, and shared kisses with the snowy peaks as their backdrop. Those candid, joy-filled moments felt like the essence of their elopement: love, laughter, and a breathtaking Montana view.
Surrounded by close family and loved ones, Rylie and Rachel exchanged vows at the sweetest little spot tucked into the mountain. Their words to one another were heartfelt and full of love, and there wasn’t a dry eye in sight.
After the ceremony, we celebrated with more photos, hugs, and lots of laughter. It was one of those days where time stood still — a day filled with authenticity, joy, and the kind of beauty that makes you stop and soak it all in.
For me personally, this elopement was extra meaningful. Not only was it my first time second-shooting an elopement, but it was also my first chance to learn alongside Winter Gray Photography. Watching her work, capturing these moments, and being part of Rylie and Rachel’s story is something I’ll carry with me forever.
Rylie and Rachel, thank you for letting me witness your love and capture a small piece of it. And Winter — thank you for showing me the ropes in such an inspiring way. This day will forever have my heart.
