Glacier National Park Senior Session with Macy

There are some days when having a national park in your backyard makes you stop and realize just how lucky you are. Macy’s senior session in Glacier National Park was one of those days.

This was actually my second shoot with Macy — our first was at the MD Gallery and Studio in Columbia Falls — and I was so excited when she told me she wanted to take her second session to the mountains that raised her. Glacier is truly home for so many of us, and it felt so fitting to capture this milestone for her right there.

Her sweet mom came along for the adventure, and I can’t even tell you how special it was to have her there. There’s just something about a mom’s eye and encouragement that brings a whole new kind of magic to a session. Together, we made our way up Going-to-the-Sun Road for those iconic Montana backdrops, catching golden hour light that painted everything in the softest glow.

And even though it was only the first weekend of September, fall was already peeking through. Yellow and orange leaves dotted the park, adding just the right touch of warmth to our mountain setting.

Macy showed up with the cutest outfits, each one giving us a totally different vibe:

Elevated casual: classic blue jeans, chic white boots, and a dressy black top — effortless and timeless.

The brown set: her most complimentary look, pulling in a shade that made her shine (and paired perfectly with Glacier’s rugged backdrop).

The flowy dress moment: a gorgeous blue dress full of movement, perfect for those dreamy candid shots that feel straight out of a movie.

Macy is such a natural in front of the camera, which made experimenting with poses and perspectives so much fun. From mountaintop candids to riverbank editorials, every shot felt fresh, effortless, and uniquely her.

To wrap up the evening, we headed to Lake McDonald for blue hour. That magical time when the lake turns shades of purple and pink as the sun slips away — it never gets old. Watching Macy twirl in her flowy dress against that backdrop felt like the perfect ending to a stunning session.

Sessions like this remind me why I love what I do: real moments, genuine joy, and the most breathtaking places to capture it all. Glacier is always calling — and if it’s calling your name too, let’s make some magic together.
